It is finally time to post a couple words of an explanation regarding the missing banlist update. From the committee’s perspective, each year is divided into 4 seasons – 3 months each. Over the course of each season the main tasks for our group are creating a plan for further testing/updates, a database of playtesting results and statistics as well as talking the current state of the format over multiple times to come up with the best possible solutions/ideas. For all of that and more, each of us has to sacrirfice a big part of our time and a lot of energy. Every time a season comes to an end, we publish the update as well as the data and our job begins all over again – in preparation for the next season.
This year has not been easy on us so far; It turned out that many of us simply had trouble finding the time to contribute to playtesting and data gathering. Ultimately, we reached a conclusion that as a whole, the committee cannot reach any substantiated decisions, due to lack of data from the current season. At the same time we felt like we should not issue a “No changes” note as we had done so many times before, especially since we do not feel like the format is in a perfect place right now – frankly, quite far from it. We do see the need for change and the necessity for our format to evolve. However, we simply cannot provide any specifics without risking hasty blunders.
Because of all this, we are forced to – yet again – inform you that for the current season there are no changes.
We hope for your understanding – taking part in the committee’s tasks is - most of all - a hobby for us, but it is also in a way, a non-profit, time consuming and energy draining job. We do it to co-create are favorite format, but we are only human and life can sometimes surprise us and thwart our plans. We’ll see you in the next season.
Also, we wish you a peaceful and happy Easter!
As always, we are looking forward to your feedback.
